There’s fresh buzz around the release of Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, as the film appears to be inching closer to its theatrical debut. Initially slated for a Pongal release on January 9, the project faced delays due to censorship and legal issues, pushing its timeline further and keeping fans waiting for clarity. Now, according to a report in Filmibeat, the makers are considering a late April release, with April 24 or April 30 being looked at as possible dates.

While an official confirmation is still awaited, the update has sparked renewed interest around the film, which is already among the most anticipated Tamil releases this year.

Adding to the buzz around Jana Nayagan is the music by Anirudh Ravichander, which is expected to enhance the film’s overall cinematic appeal. The delay in release was largely due to the film undergoing re-censorship, after initial concerns were raised during its review. A committee in Mumbai reportedly re-examined the film and suggested certain changes, particularly as it features politically sensitive scenes and dialogues that required closer scrutiny. The certification process was further impacted by the timing of the Tamil Nadu elections, with voting scheduled for April 23 and the model code of conduct in place.

As a result, authorities are said to have advised against granting certification during the election period, prompting the makers to plan the release after the polls. The last week of April is now being considered the most likely window for the film’s theatrical debut.
