Priyadarshan has dismissed rumours of a rift between Akshay Kumar and Tabu over alleged scene cuts in Bhooth Bangla, clarifying that the speculation about Tabu being upset is baseless. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Priyadarshan said, "I don’t know why and who is spreading this negative news. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me."

Priyadarshan further added, "I am the director of Bhooth Bangla, and I decide what to keep and what not to. The film is a big success, but some are trying to spread negativity."

Priyadarshan went on to state, "Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my work with honesty, and every actor comes and sees the film before the release. Whoever is spreading such rumours should be ashamed."

Bhooth Bangla hit theatres on April 17, bringing together director Priyadarshan with his frequent collaborators Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. Backed by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film also features Wamiqa Gabbi in a key role. While it opened to mixed reviews from critics, the film has gradually gained momentum at the box office, with positive word of mouth helping it find a steady audience.

The film also holds emotional significance as it marks one of the final on-screen appearances of veteran actor Asrani. Widely remembered for his iconic role as the jail warden in Sholay, Asrani passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84. He will also be seen posthumously in Haiwaan, another project starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan.
