Rapper Badshah recently landed in controversy over his song Tateeree, which faced criticism for its lyrics and visuals. The matter reached the National Commission for Women (NCW), which raised concerns about the portrayal of women in the song. Following this, Badshah has now issued an apology through his legal representative and has promised to take corrective steps, including creating content focused on women’s empowerment.

Badshah Lawyer Appeared Before NCW

Akshay Dahiya, Badshah's lawyer, represented him in front of the National Commission for Women. Allegations that the song included offensive and profane content led to the rapper's summons. His attorney addressed the issues brought up by the song in a written apology to the commission during the hearing.

Badshah’s Commitment To Women’s Welfare

Speaking to the media, the lawyer revealed that Badshah has pledged to make a constructive contribution to the advancement of women. He has pledged to support programs that generate money for women's welfare and to subsidise the education of at least fifty females. Furthermore, Badshah also promised to write a song on women's empowerment within the following four months.

Clarification On The Song

The legal team clarified that Tateeree was intended as a creative work and was not meant to insult or harm any community or women. They emphasised that there was no intention to promote offensive ideas, but acknowledged the concerns raised by the authorities.

NCW Raises Concerns Over Content

The song's lyrics and visuals were taken seriously by the NCW, who called them sexually suggestive and objectionable. The commission had concerns over the video's portrayal of women. The case has also drawn attention to laws related to obscenity, including provisions under Sections 292 and 294 of the Indian Penal Code, which deal with offensive content and acts.
