A 53-year-old supporting actor, Hemant alias Nagindas Parshottamdas Modi Vaishnav, was arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch after allegedly remaining absconding for 12 years. The actor, who appeared in films and television projects alongside stars like Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh and Sunny Deol, was reportedly living under the radar after jumping parole.
According to police officials, Hemant had been serving a life sentence in connection with a 2005 murder case in Ahmedabad’s Naroda area before he disappeared while out on parole. Several serious charges, including murder and criminal conspiracy, had been filed against him under the IPC and BP Act. He was eventually arrested near Gheekanta Metro Station in Ahmedabad.
According to news agency ANI, the crime branch official said, "Yesterday, Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested an accused named Hemant Nagindas Modi, who had been on the run for 12 years after jumping parole. He was convicted in a murder case and remained in jail until 2014, after which he jumped parole. He had been wanted for 12 years. During this period, the accused played various roles in the film industry and was also quite active on social media. Many of his web series were also released."

While allegedly evading authorities for over a decade, Hemant reportedly adopted a new identity and quietly built a career in the entertainment industry. Police said he continued working across Hindi, Gujarati and regional projects, appearing in films, web series, television shows and stage productions while remaining under the radar.
Investigators claim he featured in films like Thugs of Hindostan with Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Jayeshbhai Jordaar starring Ranveer Singh, and L2: Empuraan featuring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran. He was also reportedly part of the upcoming Lahore 1947 alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, apart from television shows like Wagle Ki Duniya and Mere Sai.
