Dhurandhar: The Revenge became the talk of the town after its March 19 release this year. From its explosive set pieces and fast-paced action scenes to strong performances, the spy thriller impressed critics and audiences. The movie's SFX supervisor, Vishal Tyagi, disclosed that every explosion in the movie, including the enormous climax sequence starring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal, which required 500 litres of gasoline, was real.
Dhurandhar SFX supervisor Vishal Tyagi said in a recent podcast with Hindi Rush that the movie practically performed its explosions on location rather than using computer-generated effects. He disclosed that Aditya Dhar insisted on keeping things authentic, in contrast to many movies that use computer-generated imagery to accentuate explosions.
Dhurandhar SFX supervisor said, "But Aditya Dhar said, 'I don't want to use CGI,' especially for explosions. Jo last waala tanker blast tha, that was the toughest. Usmein sabse bada safety concern tha. Imagine 500 litres of petrol. All the fragments in that blast were real. Ranveer was walking in close proximity, and I had to make sure the flames did not reach Ranveer. We did all the work and precisely told Ranveer Singh where he could start walking. Humne actually Dhurandhar mein khoon paseena diya hai."

Vishal Tyagi shared that although Arjun Rampal was originally included in the scene, he was asked to leave before the explosion was filmed because of safety concerns. Ranveer Singh hailed the team once the shot was finished, saying, "Faad diya tune."

The SFX expert revealed that he had a lot of production pressure. "Real train base and containers were used for the explosion. It was very challenging, but we were confident. Production told me to use 250 litres, but I was adamant that at least 500 litres of fuel was required. To make that explode, I also had to add 25 kilos of explosive in each of these tanks to get the right effect. Maine suna sabki, ki apne mann ki."
