UPESSC Recruitment 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the UP PRT and PGT Recruitment 2026 notification on September 15, 2026. The recruitment drive includes 15,012 vacancies, comprising 12,405 Primary Teacher (PRT) posts and 2,607 Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) posts. The PRT application process will begin on September 16, while PGT applications will start on September 18, 2026.
Candidates interested in UP teacher recruitment can apply online through the official UPESSC website. The PRT examination is scheduled for December 3 and 4, while the PGT examination will be conducted on December 15 and 16, 2026. Candidates should check the eligibility criteria, application deadlines and examination pattern before submitting their forms.

UPESSC PRT PGT Recruitment 2026: Important Dates
The UPESSC has announced separate application schedules for PRT and PGT recruitment. The PRT recruitment has been released under Advertisement No. 05/2026, while the PGT recruitment is covered under Advertisement No. 06/2026.
For PRT posts, candidates can apply from September 16 and pay the application fee until October 15, 2026. The PRT examination will be held on December 3 and 4. For PGT posts, applications will be accepted from September 18 to October 17, with the examination scheduled for December 15 and 16.
UP Teacher Vacancy 2026: Check PRT and PGT Posts
The PRT recruitment includes 897 Assistant Teacher posts and 11,508 Urban Assistant Teacher posts. The 897 Assistant Teacher vacancies comprise 378 General, 348 SC, 164 OBC and seven EWS posts, while no ST vacancies have been listed in this category.
The PGT recruitment includes 2,607 Lecturer vacancies across various subjects. Hindi has 374 posts, followed by English with 285, Sanskrit with 264, Geography with 248 and Economics with 202 vacancies.
UPESSC Recruitment 2026: Application Process
Candidates must complete One-Time Registration (OTR) before submitting the UPESSC application form. Applicants need to enter their personal and educational details, upload the required documents, pay the application fee and complete the final submission. Candidates should carefully verify all details because certain information, including category, date of birth, gender and subcategory, cannot be changed after final submission.
The application fee for General, OBC, EWS and other categories is ₹1,000 for PRT and ₹1,500 for PGT. SC/ST candidates need to pay ₹500 for PRT and ₹750 for PGT, while the fee for PwD candidates is ₹300 for PRT and ₹500 for PGT.
UP PRT PGT Eligibility Criteria 2026
For Urban Assistant Teacher posts, candidates should be aged between 21 and 40 years as on July 1, 2026, with applicable relaxations. PRT applicants must have a graduation degree, the prescribed teacher-training qualification, and the required TET qualification for Classes 1 to 5.
For PGT posts, candidates generally need a relevant postgraduate degree along with a B.Ed. qualification recognised by NCTE. Subject-specific eligibility requirements apply for different PGT disciplines.

UPESSC PRT PGT Exam Pattern 2026
The PRT and PGT written examinations will consist of 120 objective-type questions carrying 360 marks, with a duration of two hours. Candidates will receive three marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for an incorrect or multiple answer.
For PGT recruitment, the written examination carries 360 marks and the interview carries 40 marks, for a total of 400 marks. The PRT selection will be based on the written examination, with normalization applicable if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts.
