UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the official notification for the Assistant Professor Exam 2026 on its official website on September 8, 2026. Simultaneously, the Commission has also opened the registration portal for eligible candidates to complete their applications via upessc.up.gov.in until October 7, 2026. Before applying, applicants need to complete their One Time Registration (OTR) process.
UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 aims to fill a total of 1,936 vacancies across government-aided degree colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The written examination will be conducted on November 19 and 20, 2026.

Under the advertisement, a total of 1,936 Assistant Professor posts have been announced. Of these, 1,564 posts are for co-educational colleges and 372 posts are for women’s colleges. Category-wise vacancy details are as follows:

UP Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria 2026
Before applying, candidates must fulfill the eligibility requirements as mentioned in the official notification PDF. Here are the details:
1. Candidates must have a master’s degree in the relevant subject with 55% qualifying marks.
2. Reserved categories have a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks.
3. It is mandatory for applicants to have qualified NET, SLET, SET, or have a PhD degree unless exempted.
4. The age limit to apply for the exam is a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 62 years as of July 1, 2026.
UPESSC Assistant Professor Exam Pattern 2026
The test will have 120 MCQ-based questions worth 300 marks. As per the marking scheme, each correct answer will be awarded +3 marks, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. The exam will be conducted for two hours.
