India great Yuvraj Singh could be set for a new challenge in the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to a report by The Times of India, the former all-rounder is likely to join Delhi Capitals (DC) in a coaching role ahead of the next IPL season.

If the move goes through, it will mark Yuvraj’s first coaching assignment in the IPL. Over the years, he has played an important role in guiding several young Indian cricketers, including Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Prabhsimran Singh.

“Who wouldn’t want a Yuvraj Singh in the dugout? Many of his former teammates, including Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag, have had coaching stints in the IPL,” a source told the publication.

At present, Hemang Badani serves as Delhi Capitals’ head coach. The franchise is one of only two original IPL teams yet to win the tournament despite being part of the competition since its launch in 2008.

Delhi endured another disappointing campaign in IPL 2026. The Axar Patel-led side finished sixth in the standings after winning seven and losing seven matches, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot. Their last playoff appearance came in 2021.

The closest Delhi have come to lifting the IPL trophy was in 2020 when they reached the final under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy. However, they fell short and are still searching for their maiden title.

Yuvraj’s Previous Stint With Delhi

Yuvraj is no stranger to the Delhi franchise. He represented the then Delhi Daredevils during the 2015 IPL season and scored 248 runs in 14 matches, including two half-centuries.

Two-Time IPL Champion

During his IPL career, Yuvraj played for several franchises, including Punjab Kings, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

He was part of two IPL title-winning teams. Yuvraj won his first IPL trophy with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and added another with Mumbai Indians in 2019.

Overall, the former India star featured in 132 IPL matches, scoring 2,750 runs at an average of 24.77 and a strike rate of 129.71. He registered 13 half-centuries during his IPL career.

Yuvraj also made valuable contributions with the ball. The left-arm spinner picked up 36 wickets, including two four-wicket hauls. One of his most memorable bowling performances came in IPL 2009, when he claimed two hat-tricks in the same season.
