Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Yash Dayal is set to join Chhattisgarh as a guest player for the 2026-27 domestic season. He will be joined by India spinner Jayant Yadav and experienced Saurashtra all-rounder Dharmendrasingh Jadeja.

According to a report by News18 CricketNext, Dayal is waiting for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) before he can officially leave the team after spending seven seasons with them.

The three players have already attended Chhattisgarh's pre-season fitness camp in Alur, Karnataka. The camp is being overseen by new head coach Amay Khurasiya, the former India batter who played 12 ODIs for the country.

“The BCCI allows every association to induct up to three guest players every season. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the CSCS selection committee picked Yash Dayal, along with Jayant Yadav and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, to add more firepower to the team," sources told the publication.

“Obviously, the selection of the players will be based on how they perform in the fitness camp. But as far as our three guest players- Dayal, Yadav and Jadeja- are concerned, there won’t be any problem given their experience.”

Chhattisgarh are expected to announce their squad for the new domestic season next month. If selected, all three players are likely to feature in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Dayal eyes return to competitive cricket

Dayal has not played a competitive match since the IPL 2025 final, where he represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He missed the entire IPL 2026 season after sexual exploitation allegations surfaced against him.

The left-arm pacer has enjoyed a solid domestic career so far. He has taken 84 wickets in first-class cricket, 36 in List A matches and 66 in T20 cricket. He has also been part of two IPL title-winning teams.

Jayant brings experience

Jayant Yadav has played six Tests and two ODIs for India. The off-spinner has picked up 272 wickets in first-class cricket and represented Puducherry during the previous domestic season.

He has also made useful contributions with the bat, scoring 3,171 runs in first-class cricket, including three centuries and 15 half-centuries.

Jadeja's impressive domestic record

Dharmendrasingh Jadeja has been one of the most consistent performers in domestic cricket. The Saurashtra all-rounder has played 100 first-class matches and claimed 423 wickets at an average of 26.25, including 26 five-wicket hauls.

He has also scored 2,123 first-class runs with seven fifties to his name. In limited-overs cricket, he has taken 121 wickets in List A matches and 65 in T20s. Jadeja was also a member of Saurashtra's two Ranji Trophy-winning squads.
