India ODI captain Shubman Gill handed over the Fielder Of the Match award to Gurnoor Brar for his iconic performance in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Notably, India defeated Afghanistan 3-0 to whitewash the series, where Brar, who made his ODI debut, picked up seven wickets in three outings.

The BCCI shared a clip on their social media where skipper Shubman Gill can be seen handing over the fielding medal to Gurnoor Brar.

Someone who is only playing his first series, and the kind of effort that he put in was unbelievable. Gurnoor Brar, hopefully, this will only encourage you to keep working harder and keep getting better," said Shubman Gill while handing over the medal to Brar.

India's performance against Afghanistan

India started the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan with a seven-wicket win in a rain-affected match. After that, the Men in Blue registered a dominating 170-run win in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. After that, Team India defeated Afghanistan by nine wickets in the third ODI to whitewash the series.

India's upcoming ODI assignment

India will now be seen featuring against England for the three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to start from July 14. Gurnoor, who had a memorable debut, is also included in the squad for the England series.
