MI New York all-rounder Kieron Pollard found himself in the middle of another on-field controversy during the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 clash against Texas Super Kings. This time, Pollard had a heated exchange with USA batter Shubham Ranjane during the match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
Why Pollard get angry during MLC 2026?
The incident happened in the 12th over of the Texas Super Kings innings. While Ranjane was running between the wickets, he collided with Pollard on the pitch. The former West Indies captain was clearly unhappy after the contact. On the very next delivery, Pollard stopped midway through his bowling action, appeared to threaten a throw at the batter, and then stared at Ranjane.

Ranjane did not back down either. On the following ball, he stepped away from his batting stance just as Pollard was about to bowl, leading to another tense moment between the two players.
Former New Zealand fast bowler Danny Morrison, who was on commentary, felt Pollard could have avoided the collision. According to Morrison, Pollard had seen Ranjane coming, while the batter’s attention was focused on the ball.
Texas Super Kings vs MI New York match report
Despite the drama, Texas Super Kings struggled to build a big total. Ranjane played a valuable knock but fell just one run short of a half-century. He scored 49 off 36 balls before Rushil Ugarkar dismissed him in the 17th over.
MI New York’s bowlers put in an excellent performance. Trent Boult returned to form with figures of 3 for 18, while Corbin Bosch impressed with four wickets at a very economical rate. Led by Donovan Ferreira in the absence of the injured Faf du Plessis, Texas Super Kings were bowled out for 158 in 19.2 overs.
Chasing 159, MI New York comfortably reached the target with eight wickets in hand and 14 balls remaining. Pollard managed only seven runs from 12 deliveries. Quinton de Kock scored a quick 26 off 16 balls, while Monank Patel made 46 from 34 balls before being trapped lbw by Hardus Viljoen.
Captain Nicholas Pooran guided the chase with an unbeaten 68 from 46 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. His innings helped MI New York seal their first win of the season in the 18th over.
The victory lifted MI New York to fourth place in the points table. In their previous match, they had suffered a 30-run defeat against Washington Freedom despite Pollard’s sensational unbeaten century off just 56 balls.
