Young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered a stunning performance for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday in New Chandigarh. The 15-year-old played one of the most explosive knocks in IPL playoff history, smashing 97 runs off just 29 balls.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks Shubman Gill's record
Sooryavanshi entertained fans with fearless batting and hammered 12 massive sixes during his innings. In doing so, he broke Shubman Gill’s record for the most sixes in an IPL playoff innings. Gill had earlier hit 10 sixes while scoring 129 runs for Gujarat Titans against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes second-highest individual score for RR
The young RR batter also registered the second-highest individual score for Rajasthan Royals in an IPL knockout game. The record is still held by Jos Buttler, who scored an unbeaten 106 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022.

Sooryavanshi becomes the uncapped player with the most runs in an IPL season
With this incredible innings, Sooryavanshi’s run tally for the season reached 680 runs. He also created history by becoming the uncapped player with the most runs in a single IPL season. The youngster went past his Rajasthan Royals teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored 624 runs in IPL 2023.

Here are another milestones Vaibhav Sooryavanshi achieved during SRH vs RR clash
- Vaibhav became the first teenager in the world to score 600 runs in a T20 tournament. He needed just 17 runs before the match to reach the landmark and got there quickly in the third over of the innings.
- The RR youngster is now the uncapped player with the most runs in a single IPL season. He went past Yashasvi Jaiswal’s previous record of 626 runs for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. Vaibhav now has 680 runs from 15 matches this season.
- Vaibhav raced to his fifty in only 16 balls against SRH. With that, he equalled Suresh Raina’s long-standing record for the fastest half-century in an IPL playoff or knockout game.
- The teenage batter also broke Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. He needed seven sixes to go past Gayle’s tally of 59 sixes from IPL 2012, but ended up smashing 12 during the Eliminator. His season tally now stands at 65 sixes.
- Vaibhav’s 65 sixes are now the highest by any player in the history of a T20 tournament or series. In fact, no batter before him had even managed to hit 60 sixes in a single T20 competition.
