Australia will once again be without senior players Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh for an ODI series after naming their squad for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh on Monday.

With Marsh unavailable, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will captain the ODI side. Young batter Oliver Peake and off-spinner Todd Murphy have been included in the squad, earning opportunities in the 50-over format.

Matt Short, who was originally picked only for the Pakistan series, has kept his place for the Bangladesh ODIs alongside Peake.

Murphy comes into the squad as a replacement for leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha, who suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against Pakistan in Lahore.

Why Marsh Missed out from Australia squad?

Although Marsh will miss the ODI matches, he has been named in the touring group and is expected to captain Australia in the T20I series. National selector Tony Dodemaide said the all-rounder is still recovering from an ankle injury and will join the team in Dhaka before the T20Is begin.

Why No Travis Head in Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh?

Dodemaide also revealed that Travis Head has been granted personal leave and will miss both the ODI and T20I series in Bangladesh.

“We were hopeful Mitch Marsh would be available for the ODI series, but he is still working his way back to full fitness after his ankle injury,” Dodemaide said. “He will join the squad in Dhaka and start preparing for the T20I series.”

Speaking about Head, Dodemaide added: “Travis was initially selected for both formats on this tour, but he has since been granted personal leave. We look forward to having him back for the Test series against Bangladesh.”
