Pakistan’s fast bowler Asad Akhtar drew the limelight with his very odd-looking no-ball during the National T20 Cup match - the men's professional domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Pakistan - for Karachi Blues against Lahore Blues at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium on Monday.
During the match against Lahore Blues, the right-arm speedster conceded 21 runs in the only over he bowled.
In his only over, Akhtar delivered two wides and two no-balls, but what particularly caught the attention of many was a massive no-ball. His front foot was too far away from the bowling crease, and in a video circulating on social media, his back foot looked close to the line.
Fixing suspicion?

That no-ball from Asad Akhtar in Pakistan’s National T20 Cup wasn’t just big, it was alarmingly big. This ball instantly brings back memories of the infamous no-ball from Mohammad Amir during the spot-fixing scandal.

Asad Akhtar's no-ball wasn't just wide — it was two feet past the crease in Pakistan's National T20 Cup.

The same deliberate distance that brought down Mohammad Amir in 2010. Same competition level. Same age bracket.

A 25 year old Pakistani pacer, Asad Akhtar, bowled a shocking no ball in their ongoing premium domestic T20 tournament and it looked ridiculously suspicious. Spot fixing again. pic.twitter.com/zFRzScLFLx

The delivery brought back the dark memories for Pakistan fans of former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir’s infamous no-ball against England in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal at Lord’s. Many fans on social media drew similarities between the two famous deliveries.

Mohammad Amir's pre-planned 'No Ball' at the Lord's Stadium (Home of Cricket) 🧐
The No Ball wasn't a mistake or a technical glitch, it was a coordinated act of spot-fixing 😨

Luckily, Akhtar’s expensive over did not derail Karachi Blues’ victory campaign as they cruised to a 57-run win on Saturday. For Karachi, Jahandad Khan and Shahnawaz Dahani hogged the spotlight with four wickets apiece, bundling Lahore Blues for 149 in 17.3 overs while defending 206.
