Kagiso Rabada reached a major milestone in his Test career on Saturday by becoming the second-fastest South African bowler to take 350 wickets in the longest format of the game.
The right-arm pacer achieved the feat during the third Test against Australia in Cape Town. Playing his 75th Test for South Africa, Rabada needed four wickets to reach the landmark.
He managed just one wicket in the first innings but made a strong comeback after the break. Rabada dismissed three Australian batters in his first four overs of the second innings to complete 350 Test wickets.
Only former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has reached the milestone faster. Steyn took 69 Tests to claim his 350th wicket, while Rabada needed six more matches.
Fastest South African Bowlers To 350 Test Wickets
Dale Steyn continues to hold the record for the fastest South African to reach 350 Test wickets. He achieved the milestone against India in Durban in December 2013.
Rabada is now second on the list, ahead of former Proteas greats Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini.
| PLAYER | AGAINST | VENUE | MATCHES | MATCH DATE |
| Dale Steyn | India | Durban | 69 | December 26, 2013 |
| Kagiso Rabada | Australia | Cape Town | 75 | October 27, 2026 |

Richard Hadlee Holds Record Among Fast Bowlers
While Rabada has moved into second place among South African bowlers, he is also among the fastest fast bowlers in the world to reach 350 Test wickets.
New Zealand legend Richard Hadlee holds the record, having achieved the milestone in just 69 Tests. Steyn also took 69 matches to reach the same mark.
Australia’s Dennis Lillee is third on the list, having taken 70 Tests, while Glenn McGrath reached the milestone in 74 matches.
Rabada shares the fifth spot with former West Indies pacer Malcolm Marshall, who also needed 75 Tests.
Muralitharan And Ashwin Hold Overall Record
Sri Lanka’s legendary spinner Muthiah Muralidaran holds the overall record for the fastest bowler to reach 350 Test wickets.
He achieved the feat in just 66 Tests in September 2001. India’s Ravichandran Ashwin later matched his record in October 2019.
Richard Hadlee and Dale Steyn are next on the list, having taken 69 Tests each.
Rabada is currently joint-eighth on the overall list, alongside former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath, with both reaching the 350-wicket mark in 75 Tests.
Rabada Closing In On More South African Records
Rabada could achieve another major milestone in the ongoing Test against Australia.
If he takes five more wickets in the second innings, he will move past Allan Donald’s tally of 602 Test wickets and become South Africa’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in the format.
