India Test vice-captain KL Rahul had a disappointing outing with the bat in the first unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A. After getting out for a duck in the first innings, Rahul managed just four runs in the second innings at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Sunday.
Rahul, who is part of the Dhruv Jurel-led India A team, faced 15 balls before his innings came to an end in the fifth over. He was dismissed hit-wicket off Fraser Sheat’s bowling, adding to India’s batting concerns in the match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Also Falls Cheaply
Rahul was the second India A batter to be dismissed on Sunday. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to depart, losing his wicket on the opening ball of the fourth over.
Jaiswal was caught by Mitchell Hay off Simon Keene’s bowling after scoring just five runs off nine deliveries. He had managed 17 runs off 45 balls in the first innings.
With both Rahul and Jaiswal failing to make an impact, India A faced an early setback in their second innings as they looked to recover from New Zealand A’s first-innings lead.
New Zealand A Post 317 In First Innings
New Zealand A put up 317 runs in their first innings, batting for 89.3 overs to take a lead of 204 runs.
Opener Rhys Mariu led the way with 76 runs off 137 balls, while Dean Foxcroft contributed 51 off 79 deliveries on Sunday.
The lower order also played an important role in pushing the hosts past the 300-run mark. Kristian Clarke scored 42 off 67 balls at No. 9 and shared a 32-run partnership with Zak Gibson for the final wicket.
Clarke also featured in a 34-run stand for the ninth wicket with Fraser Sheat, who scored seven runs, while his partnership with Foxcroft for the eighth wicket added another 33 runs.
