Star India pacer Prasidh Krishna has received clearance from the medical team at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru and is now fit to feature in the upcoming two-Test series against New Zealand, according to a report by Cricbuzz.
Krishna cleared the required simulation tests conducted over the last two days at the CoE. He is expected to travel to New Zealand soon and could join the India A squad in time for the third and final unofficial Test against New Zealand A, which is scheduled to start from November 7.
The development comes as a major boost for India, with Krishna having already been ruled out of the ongoing five-match ODI series against the Black Caps.
Prasidh Krishna Clears Fitness Tests At CoE
Krishna’s return to action was subject to fitness clearance after he suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30.
The right-arm pacer was initially named in India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, but his selection was dependent on him passing the required fitness tests.
As per earlier reports, Krishna was scheduled to undergo simulation tests on November 1 and the following day. He has now successfully completed the assessments, with the CoE medical team clearing him to resume competitive cricket.
Why Was Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out Of ODI Series?
On October 30, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Krishna would not be available for the ODI series against New Zealand.
The board said the pacer needed more time to build up his workload before making a return to international cricket. It also confirmed that he would travel with the India A squad for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A, provided he cleared the Return to Play assessment.
