Canada Match Fixing Scandal: Amid the ongoing probe into the alleged fixing scandal in the T-20 World Cup match between New Zealand and Canada, a report has revealed that the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang had a direct hand in the incident. As per the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the gang was responsible for the sudden rise of Canada's captain Dilpreet Bajwa. The senior Canadian players were reportedly threatened to support the promotion of Bajwa and other junior players. The ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has questioned Bajwa following suspicions of spot-fixing against the Kiwis.

"Last July (2025), around 25 cricketers, fresh off a win at a major provincial tournament, gathered at a restaurant in Surrey, British Columbia. Two players from the tournament approached a table where a star of Canada's national men's team was dining," the CBC reported, citing sources.

"They claimed to represent the Bishnoi gang and threatened the player, stating that if he did not support the promotion of Dilpreet Bajwa and another young player, he and his family would face dire consequences," the report further added. The report suggested that the gang wanted to place its players in powerful roles to carry out the scandal.
The ACU suspected fixing after Bajwa bowled a suspicious over against New Zealand, consisting of no balls and wides. The CBC report also suggests that Arvinder Khosa, Cricket Canada president, also has links with the notorious gang, adding that Khosa was abruptly promoted. The Canadian government labelled the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity following several violent acts in the last few months.
