KKR vs RR IPL 2026: Zimbabwe's star fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has been involved in a controversy as his agency chose to refuse the Pakistan Super League's decision to get him a two-year ban. The pacer, who is currently a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2026, was banned from pulling out of a PSL contract and participating in the IPL. But his agency has now released a statement, revealing that he didn't have a formal contract, which is why this ban is unjustified.
Muzarabani was supposed to play as an injury replacement in the PSL, having been roped in for a whopping PKR 11 million, and then joined the Kolkata-based franchise to replace Mustafizur Rahman. This decision led PSL to take disciplinary action against him for breaching the commitment. But now Muzarabani's agency, World Sports Xchange, has hit back, emphasizing that the aim behind this punishment is wrong.
'No contract, no breach': Muzarabani's agency calls ban excessive
While releasing the full statement, the agency revealed that although Islamabad United called in Muzarabani, the agreement was conditional and relied heavily on obtaining an NOC from Zimbabwe cricket. They also highlighted that obtaining an NOC requires a legally signed contract, which they never received.

"You simply cannot breach a contract you never received," the statement said, disputing the PSL's decision.
The agency also highlighted that when the Kolkata-based franchise contacted Muzarabani earlier this year, there were no obligations that would have prevented him from playing in the IPL. They called the ban "incredibly excessive" and inconsistent, since the earlier cases concerned actual contractual breaches.
Describing the situation as an administrative lapse, they requested that the PSL respectfully remove the ban and rectify what they called a mistake on the league's part.

Amidst this off-field controversy, Muzarabani did make his presence felt on the field. Post going wicketless during his debut IPL match, he made a brilliant comeback as he took a four-fer during their match against the Ishan Kishan-led side, even though he had played a few matches till now.
