Jofra Archer Returns, Uncapped All-Rounder Gets Maiden Call-Up As England Announce ODI Squad Against India

England have announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India which is scheduled to start from July 14. The biggest talking point is the maiden ODI call-up for Sussex all-rounder James Coles, who has been rewarded for his impressive performances.

Josh Tongue to make ODI debut against India

Fast bowler Josh Tongue has also been included and could make his ODI debut during the series. Jofra Archer is back in England’s one-day squad as well, marking his return to the format for the first time since November last year.

England have further strengthened their pace attack by recalling Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood, both of whom missed the recent tour of Sri Lanka. Harry Brook will continue to lead the side as England’s full-time white-ball captain.

England made four changes in their squad

There are four changes from the 15-player squad that toured Sri Lanka in the winter. Archer, Atkinson, Mahmood and Coles have replaced Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Jamie Overton and Luke Wood.

Apart from those changes, England have kept the rest of the squad unchanged as they continue building a settled combination ahead of next year’s ODI World Cup in South Africa.

The series opens at Edgbaston on July 14, followed by the second ODI in Cardiff on July 16.The third and final match will be played at Lord’s on July 19.
