India posted a massive 564/8 before declaring their first innings against Afghanistan on the second day of the one-off Test on Sunday. The hosts were in complete control with strong contributions from both the top and lower order.

After resuming at 368/3 overnight, India continued to pile on the runs. Captain Shubman Gill, who resumed his innings in the morning, added to his overnight score before being dismissed for a brilliant 126. KL Rahul had already laid the foundation on the opening day with a patient century, scoring 100 off 165 balls, while Sai Sudharsan chipped in with a solid 81.

Rishabh Pant entertained the crowd with his aggressive batting and looked set for a hundred, but fell short after scoring 81. His knock kept the scoreboard moving and put further pressure on the Afghanistan bowlers.
