India To Host Inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027; Check Dates, Teams And Venues

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced venues and dates for the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to take place next year. The marquee event will be played from February 14 to 28, 2027.

The six-team competition will be staged across two venues, the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara.

The tournament was initially planned to take place in Sri Lanka. However, the ICC has now moved the event to India as Sri Lanka Cricket continues to work on reforms agreed at the ICC Annual Conference in July.

India Chosen As Replacement Host

Bangladesh, India and South Africa were considered as possible replacement hosts. The ICC assessed all three countries based on its existing criteria for hosting major events before recommending India. The decision was formally approved by the ICC Board on September 1.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said the tournament would be an important step for the women’s game and would bring the world’s leading teams together.

He also highlighted the importance of having a major ICC women’s event every year, saying it could help create greater consistency and interest around women’s cricket.

“The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 marks an exciting new chapter for women’s cricket," ICC Chairman Jay Shah said.

Six Teams To Compete For Historic Title

Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will take part in the inaugural tournament. The competition will be played in the T20I format. All six teams will face each other once in the league stage.
