India’s Asia Cup triumph has brought plenty of movement in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, with several of their key players making significant gains.
India beat Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final in Dubai to win a record eighth Women’s Asia Cup title. Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma and Sree Charani were among the biggest beneficiaries of India’s dominant campaign.
Sree Charani created history
Charani was one of the standout performers in the title decider as she picked up four wickets to take her tournament tally to 12. The left-arm spinner has now extended her lead at the top of the T20I bowling rankings and created history by becoming the first Indian bowler to cross the 800-point mark.
Charani is currently rated at 802 points. Only Australia’s Megan Schutt, with 806 points, has recorded a higher rating in the T20I bowling rankings. She is also among an elite group of women’s players to reach the 800-point mark, alongside England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who also has 802 points.
Deepti Sharma has moved up four places to second in the bowling rankings. The all-rounder played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign, finishing with 14 wickets, including figures of 3/19 in the final.
Shafali has also made progress in the batting rankings. After scoring 236 runs in the tournament at an average of 47.20, she has moved up one place to sixth. Her performances have also helped her climb five spots in the T20I all-rounder rankings, where she is now 15th.
Beth Mooney leads the chart
Australia’s Beth Mooney and Georgia Voll continue to occupy the top two spots in the T20I batting rankings.
Several other players also made gains after their performances in the Asia Cup. Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana has moved up one place to joint 20th, while Imesha Dulani climbed two places to also reach joint 20th. Sharmin Akhter Supta moved up three spots to joint 40th, while Shawaal Zulfiqar jumped four places to 45th.
Bangladesh also saw several bowlers rise in the latest rankings. Marufa Akter climbed three places to joint 15th, Rabeya Khan moved up three spots to 18th, Sultana Khatun gained five places to 32nd and Fahima Khatun jumped six spots to 49th.
