India have managed to hold on to the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings following the annual update, although their advantage at the top has narrowed.

India remain top in ICC ODI rankings

The Indian team now has 118 rating points, one less than before. New Zealand have closed the gap by gaining two points and now sit second with 113 points, reducing India's lead from eight points to just five.

Australia continue to occupy third place with 109 rating points and remain unchanged in the rankings.

The only movement inside the top 10 comes from South Africa, who have climbed to fourth place with 102 points. Pakistan have slipped to fifth after dropping to 98 points.

Further down the rankings, Bangladesh have strengthened their hold on ninth position and now enjoy a 10-point lead over the West Indies.

There have also been a few changes outside the top 10. Ireland have moved ahead of Zimbabwe to take 11th place, while the United States have overtaken Scotland and climbed to 13th. The United Arab Emirates have also gained a spot, moving above Canada into 19th place.

India also on top in T20I rankings

India's strong position is not limited to ODI cricket. The team currently sits at the top of the ICC Men's T20I rankings as well. Australia, meanwhile, remain the No. 1 side in Test cricket and also lead the rankings in both women's ODI and T20I formats.

India's upcoming ODI assignment

India's next ODI assignment will be a home series against Afghanistan, which begins on Saturday.

However, the hosts will be without Virat Kohli, who has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury. Kohli was originally named in the squad, but Yashasvi Jaiswal has been drafted in as his replacement. Interestingly, Jaiswal had also made his ODI debut last year when Kohli missed a match due to fitness concerns.

The Shubman Gill-led side is also likely to miss all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Reports suggest Pandya is dealing with a quadricep strain, and the medical team has advised him to rest, making him unavailable for the three-match series.

Pandya has not played an ODI for India since the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
