India veteran wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul went unsold in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2026 auction, despite having a base price of Rs 2 lakh; no franchise placed a bid for him. Soon after that, social media got flooded with a lot of speculation on why KL Rahul went unsold despite a decent IPL season.

The main reason behind this was uncertainty over Rahul’s availability for the tournament. When his name came up during the auction, the auctioneer informed the teams that there was no confirmation on whether he would be available to play. As a result, the India Test vice-captain remained unsold.

Why KL Rahul remained unsold?

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2026 will be played from June 20 to July 12. Rahul is currently part of the Indian squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, which starts on June 6. After that, he will feature in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, running from June 13 to June 20.

KL Rahul's future assignments

Although Rahul is not expected to be part of India’s T20I squads for the tours of Ireland and England, he is likely to return for the three-match ODI series against England from July 14 to July 19. With a short break available before that assignment, Rahul is expected to spend some time with his family before India’s busy international schedule resumes.
