The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India A squad for the upcoming home series against Australia A. The two teams will play two multi-day matches and three one-day games in Puducherry.
Padikkal Handed Captaincy For Multi-Day Games
Devdutt Padikkal has been rewarded with the captaincy for the two multi-day matches following his impressive run in the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, where he scored two centuries.
Sai Sudharsan has been named his deputy for the multi-day games. Sudharsan, who was forced to miss the Sri Lanka Test series, returns to the India A setup.
Vijaykumar Vyshak has also been included in the multi-day squad, but his participation will be subject to his fitness.
Gaikwad To Lead One-Day Side
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the India A team in the three-match one-day series. Padikkal has been named his deputy.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar is also part of the one-day squad, giving him another opportunity to stake his claim in the India setup.
Hardik Pandya Included, Fitness Test Remains
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been included in the one-day squad as he continues his recovery. However, his participation will depend on his fitness.
The squad also includes Priyansh Arya, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam, Arshin Kulkarni, Arshad Khan and Naman Dhir.
