Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings suffered a humiliating six-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Notably, this was their fifth consecutive defeat of the season after getting a memorable start with six consecutive wins and one draw.

The Punjab-based franchise suffered a defeat despite putting up a strong total of 200/8 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

PBKS are currently placed fourth on the points table with 13 points from 12 matches. However, their chances of reaching the IPL 2026 playoffs are now under pressure.

How PBKS Qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs

To confirm a playoff berth, Punjab Kings need to win both of their remaining league matches and finish with 17 points. Even one more defeat could seriously hurt their chances of making the top four for the second season in a row under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy.

Punjab's Upcoming IPL Matches

Punjab Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The match, which will be a rematch of last year’s IPL final, is set to begin at 3:30 PM IST.
