The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has sent legal notices to Indian cricketers Tilak Varma, Ambati Rayudu and Mohammed Siraj, along with actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh, over their reported links to the proposed TG20 League.

According to the TCA, the tournament does not have approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The association has alleged that the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is working with private corporate entities without getting the necessary clearance from the BCCI.

In its notice, the TCA claimed that promoting or supporting the TG20 League without official approval could lead to legal issues. The association has also questioned the league’s regulatory status and expressed concerns about celebrities endorsing the tournament before receiving approval from the country’s governing cricket body.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma is currently leading India A in the ongoing Tri-Series in Sri Lanka. The young batter has been in excellent form, scoring three half-centuries in four matches and helping his side reach the final. India A secured their place in the title clash after beating Afghanistan A on Wednesday.

Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, has been rested after initially being included in India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series in Ireland and England. The fast bowler had a busy season, playing all 17 matches for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. He also featured in India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan in Mullanpur.

As of now, neither Vijay Deverakonda nor Venkatesh has publicly commented on the legal notices or the allegations made by the TCA.

The issue comes at a time when both actors are occupied with major film commitments. Venkatesh is currently shooting for Adarsha Kutumbam, directed by Trivikram.

Vijay Deverakonda is working on director Rahul Sankrityan’s historical action drama Ranabaali, which is scheduled to hit theatres on September 11, 2026. Alongside that project, he is also filming Rowdy Janardhana, a rural action entertainer directed by Ravi Kiran Kola.

Ranabaali is being produced by Y. Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni under the Mythri Movie Makers banner in association with T-Series.

With the controversy surrounding the TG20 League continuing to grow, all eyes will be on how the concerned parties respond in the coming days.
