Abhishek Sharma Breaks Multiple Records During India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I: Check All Records

Abhishek Sharma produced a stunning batting display in the third T20I against Afghanistan on Thursday (September 17), smashing 108 runs off just 34 balls at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The left-hander smashed nine fours and 11 sixes during his explosive knock. After Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran opted to bowl first, Abhishek and Sanju Samson gave India a flying start, putting together 142 runs for the opening wicket in just 9.5 overs.

The 26-year-old from Amritsar broke several records during his sensational innings, including a few world records.

Fastest T20I Century By An Indian

Abhishek reached his century in only 30 balls, breaking Rohit Sharma’s long-standing Indian record for the fastest T20I hundred.

Rohit had scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in Indore on December 22, 2017. Abhishek went past that mark with a six, completing his hundred in just 30 deliveries.

Fastest T20I Century By A Full-Member Player

Abhishek’s 30-ball century also put him at the top of the list for the fastest T20I hundred by a player from a full-member nation.

Before this, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and New Zealand’s Finn Allen jointly held the record after both reached their centuries in 33 balls.

Most Runs In A T20I Powerplay

Abhishek also created a world record during the first six overs. He scored 76 runs from just 22 balls in the powerplay, registering the highest individual score in the powerplay in men’s T20I cricket.

His aggressive approach helped India cross the 100-run mark inside the first six overs.

First Indian To Hit 10+ Sixes In Multiple T20Is

Abhishek also added another record to his name by becoming the first Indian batter to hit 10 or more sixes in a T20I innings on more than one occasion.

He smashed 11 sixes against Afghanistan. His previous 10-plus sixes came during India’s T20I against England in Mumbai in 2025, when he hit 13 sixes while scoring 145 runs.

Abhishek’s latest innings therefore added several major records to his name and underlined his ability to score at an extraordinary pace in the shortest format.
