- Iranian President Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan for a one-day visit.
Amid ongoing Iran-US peace talks in Switzerland, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for a short, one-day visit to discuss the full implementation of all clauses of an agreement signed between Iran and the US, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest.
He landed at Nur Khan Airbase, where he was formally received by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior government officials, according to state-run PTV.
Iranian delegation arrives in Pakistan
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived here from Muscat. He had travelled to Muscat along with Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to hold high-level talks with the Omani leadership to discuss the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed that President Pezeshkian’s “state visit” was undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Switzerland talks and sudden exit of delegation
After a 60-day ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, final-round negotiations were held in Switzerland. During the talks, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly cautioned Iran that any attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz again would lead to serious consequences.
Soon after these remarks, the Iranian delegation left the talks abruptly. Within two days, both President Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Araghchi arrived in Pakistan, prompting speculation that outstanding issues from the Switzerland negotiations could be further discussed during this visit.

Expectations from the Pakistan visit
According to state media reports, President Pezeshkian travelled to Islamabad on a special aircraft named “Minab 168", accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The visit is also described as a tribute to victims of US strikes, particularly the 168 students of Minab School who were killed in the attacks.
Meanwhile, this marks his second visit to Pakistan in his capacity as president of Iran. Before departing, he said his visit "aims to secure full implementation of the memorandum under international law". He added that the agreement would help strengthen stability and security in West Asia, according to state-run Press TV.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian cautioned that "the effectiveness of the talks depends on full commitment to the agreed obligations and their precise implementation".
"Progress on this path will be measured by practical adherence to accepted responsibilities. Statements outside the agreed text do not help advance the negotiations," he added.
