Iran has threatened to suspend all negotiations with the United States if Israel fails to withdraw from Lebanon, according to information obtained by the Tasnim News Agency.
The warning comes as US-Iran peace talks continue in Switzerland. Tasnim reported that the continuation of negotiations depends on the implementation of Article 1 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the US and Iranian presidents.
Without implementation of Article 1, “negotiations are fundamentally meaningless,” Tasnim says.
What is Article 1?
Article 1 of the MoU says, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and The United States of America and their allies in the current war are signing this MOU to declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other, and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph.”
According to Tasnim information, this is a clear agenda that no action should be taken by Iran without implementing all the provisions necessary to start negotiations, and specifically observing Article 13.
According to Article 13, “After signing this MOU, and subject to the beginning of the implementation of paragraphs 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 of this MOU, and the continuing implementation of these measures, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America will start negotiations regarding the final deal exclusively on the other paragraphs.”
Trump issues warning to Iran
Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned Tehran over the activities of Iran-backed groups in Lebanon.
“Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble,” Trump said.
“If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!” he added in a post on Truth Social.

Israel says troops will stay in southern Lebanon
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that the Israeli army would not withdraw from the "security zone" it controls in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, Katz affirmed that the Israeli military would remain at all positions within the security zone, which he said protects northern Israeli settlements.
He added that Israeli forces in Lebanon face no restrictions in acting to eliminate threats, according to Xinhua News Agency.
