Priya Patel, a US-based conservative influencer, recently addressed her Indian heritage after drawing backlash for a video criticising immigration. The issue came up during her appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where her views on immigration were questioned. Introducing her on the program, host Piers Morgan highlighted the reach of her remarks, telling the audience that her immigration-related video had already garnered 30 million views within the week.

In the now viral clip, Patel says that immigration must come with assimilation, stating, "This is your friendly reminder that immigration without assimilation is invasion. Got it."

Priya Patel's Admission On Camera

Priya Patel brought up her own background during discussion, acknowledging that her surname could invite scrutiny given her strong stance on immigration.

"I understand that it is a very provocative statement coming from somebody named Priya Patel. However, of course, these people have no idea about my family history and my background," Priya said. Then Piers Morgan presses her to elaborate on her roots. Patel initially appeared to resist, suggesting her father’s origins were linked to England. "My mother is from the United States. My father immigrated here as a young boy and from England actually, not from India," she replied.

Looking for clarity, Morgan asked, "So he’s English, your father?"

Patel then described in detail her family history, explaining her father’s journey. "He was born in Uganda, immigrated to England when he was about 3 years old after the dictator Idi Amin chased out all of the Indians out of Uganda waited their turn to be able to come to the United States and did so when he was in his teenage years," Patel said.

Piers Morgan however was stuck to the issue, not allowing the conversation to move ahead without a proper answer. He directly questioned her about her roots, asking, "So is your father part Indian?" The influencer ultimately said that her father is "full Indian".

Netizens Slam Priya Patel Online

Netizens accused Priya Patel of hiding and being ashamed of her desi roots. “Girl, you literally use filters and heavy makeup to brighten your brown skin tone. You were ashamed of your father’s Indian origin… You’re not just a racist, you’re also deeply insecure about your own skin tone and your father’s origin!!” an X user wrote.

“A person who can’t wholeheartedly accept their father’s race is not worth listening to,” an X user said.

“Imagine being half Indian and only wanting to admit that you’re White. Meet Priya Patel,” another user wrote.
