'There Is A Good Probability': Trump

Speaking in an interview with NBC News' Meet the Press, the US President was asked if he knew where Khamenei was. In response, he said, "I don’t want to say whether or not I know where he is, but there’s a good probability that I do."

When pressed further on whether Khamenei was inside Iran, he declined to answer, stating, "I'd rather not say that."

What Trump Said About Khamenei's Condition?

When asked about Khamenei's condition, Trump said that he is 'pretty badly injured' and 'very seriously injured'. Mojtaba Khamenei has not made a public appearance since he was wounded in the strikes that killed his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei.

Trump further called the younger Khamenei 'more rational' compared to his father.

"Younger. I think more rational. Injured. He’s pretty badly injured. So there’s a certain bravery there. A lot of people, if they were injured that badly, they wouldn’t be talking about, you know, how we’re doing with the United States. They’d have other things on their mind," Trump was quoted as saying.

Trump Rules Out Immediate Release Of Frozen Iranian Assets

Speaking at the same interview, Trump stated that any deal aimed at ending the war would not include the immediate release of frozen Iranian assets. He emphasised that Tehran must first reach an agreement with Washington before any such steps are considered.

Trump noted that a peace deal 'comes first', adding that future talks with Iran would depend on its conduct.

"If they behave, if they do a good job, we start talking," Trump said.

Iran has been seeking the release of more than USD 100 billion in frozen overseas assets as part of any possible agreement with the US.
