West Asia Crisis: Amid the fresh threats from US President Donald Trump, Iran on Friday warned that continuation of the American blockade could prompt the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. In a series of post on X (formerly Twitter), Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf alleged that the US president did false claims in his recent statement. He asserted that the critical chokepoint will not remain open if the US continued its blockade, adding that the decision cannot be taken on the social media.
Trump, hours after Tehran declared the Hormoz "completely open" for all the ships, stated that the US naval blockade would continue until a concrete peace deal with Iran. While responding to his remarks, Ghalibaf stated that the blockade would be considered as a violation of the ceasefire, adding that the chokepoint could not remain open under such circumstances.

"The President of the United States made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false. They did not win the war with these lies, and they will certainly not get anywhere in negotiations either. With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open," he stated in the post.
"Passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be conducted based on the "designated route" and with "Iranian authorization. Whether the Strait is open or closed and the regulations governing it will be determined by the field, not by social media," the Iranian parliamentary speaker added.

Earlier in his post on the Truth Social, Trump stated that the blockade will continue in "full force", adding that the agreement with Tehran is liekly to be finalised soon. "The Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for business and full passage, but the naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100 per cent complete," Trump stated.
"This process should go very quickly in that most of the points are already negotiated," he added. The post came hours after Tehran confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open during the ceasefire period.
