US-Iran Ceasefire Talks: A United States Air Force aircraft carrying Vice President JD Vance to Islamabad has drawn significant attention ahead of high-stakes diplomatic talks with Iran in the Pakistani capital. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar shared on X, showing Vance disembarking from the plane after landing in Islamabad.

Commonly referred to as 'Air Force Two', the designation does not apply to a specific aircraft but is the standard call sign held by any US Air Force plane carrying the Vice President.

In most cases, the Vice President travels aboard a Boeing C-32, a modified version of the Boeing 757-200. The aircraft, operated by the US Air Force's 89th Airlift Wing, is designed for executive missions and is equipped with advanced communication systems that enable secure connectivity during international travel.

Inside The C-32: Range, Design, And Security Features Of Aircraft That Carries Vice President

The C-32 is designed for functionality and endurance. It can cover distances of up to 5,500 nautical miles without refuelling and cruises at approximately 537 miles per hour, making it well-suited for long-haul diplomatic missions. Its interior layout is tailored to support official duties in transit, ensuring continuity of government operations throughout the journey.

Inside, the aircraft is divided into multiple sections to accommodate work and rest requirements. The front section includes a communications centre, galley, lavatory, and business-class seating. It also features a private stateroom equipped with a foldable bed, seating area and dedicated facilities. Additional sections are configured for meetings and staff, providing space for aides and accompanying officials.

While 'Air Force Two' is the standard call sign when the Vice President is on board, it is not always used. For security reasons, especially during sensitive missions, the aircraft may operate under a Special Air Mission (SAM) designation, reducing its visibility in public flight tracking systems and enhancing safety.

Overall, the aircraft plays a crucial role in ensuring secure and efficient transport for senior US leadership during high-level international engagements, such as the high-stakes US-Iran talks in Islamabad.
