US-Iran War: Hours before talks in Islamabad, US President Donald Trump on Friday said that US warships are being reloaded with 'best ammunition' to strike Iran if talks in Pakistan fail to produce a deal.
In a telephonic interview with the New York Post, the US President said, "We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made — even better than what we did previously, and we blew them apart."
He warned that strong action would follow if ongoing efforts fail to produce an agreement, signalling a firm stance ahead of the high-stakes talks.
"And if we don't have a deal, we will be using them, and we will be using them very effectively," he added.
This remark came hours after US Vice President JD Vance headed to Pakistan for high-level talks with Iran. The talks are taking place amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, and Iran's continued control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran Sets Terms For Peace Talks
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf are likely to represent Iran in Islamabad for the upcoming talks. Earlier, Ghalibaf set two key conditions for the negotiations, calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran's blocked assets.
Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations.

These two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ghalibaf wrote, "Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations. These two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin."
