A US F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday at a US air base in the Middle East, CNN reported. According to the sources familiar with the matter, the jet reportedly landed after coming under what is suspected to be Iranian fire.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for US Central Command, said that the fifth-generation stealth fighter was 'flying a combat mission over Iran' when it was forced to make an emergency landing at a US air base in the Middle East, according to CNN.

Hawkins further stated that the aircraft landed safely and the incident is now under investigation.
As officials wait for a statement from the US Central Command, if confirmed, this could be the first incident where a US military jet has been struck by Iran since the war first erupted on February 28.
The US F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at the US base in the Middle East just hours after the US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the United States is 'decisively winning' in its military operations against Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has released a video of the moment when F-35 stealth fighter jet was hit.

US Refuelling Aircraft Crashes In Iraq
This comes days after a US refuelling aircraft crashed over Western Iraq. The KC-135 refuelling plane, part of America's military operations against Iran, crashed over Western Iraq following an incident involving another aircraft.
While the US Central Command said the plane did not come under any form of fire, whether friendly or hostile, Iran claimed responsibility for the attack on the US aircraft.
The Pentagon later confirmed that all six crew members aboard the KC-135 refuelling plane were killed in the crash.
