Footage from the event shows Trump, seated in the front row, passing a box of Tic Tacs (hard mint manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero) to Vice President JD Vance. Another clip shows Trump attempting to toss a single Tic Tac into his mouth, missing on the first try.

The lighthearted interaction quickly went viral, with users divided over whether it was a harmless personal gesture or inappropriate at a formal memorial service. The funeral brought together numerous political figures, including international leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump delivered a eulogy for Graham, who had been a strong congressional advocate for both Ukraine and Israel.
Trump facing social media trolling
A social media user took a hard turn against Trump for appearing to talk and laugh during portions of the funeral event. One post stated, “Who talks & laughs during a serious memorial?”
"Stop picking on President #Trump. He's human and deserves a little bit of privacy despite his political position," said a social media user.
"I’m gonna say those aren’t “mints”. He’s trying to be subtle but it’s obvious he’s passing out drugs," added the user.
2016 Tic Tac controversy resurfaces
The clips also prompted renewed references to a 2016 incident involving the Tic Tac brand. Following the release of the Access Hollywood tape, in which Trump made explicit comments about women, including the phrase “use some Tic Tacs”, Tic Tac USA issued a statement distancing itself from the remarks.
The company said at the time: “Tic Tac respects all women. We find the recent statements and behaviour completely inappropriate and unacceptable.” Social media users reposted the old statement alongside the new funeral clips, drawing contrasts between the brand’s past position and the current moment.
Reactions on X ranged from amusement at the everyday candidness of the scene to criticism of the timing during a national funeral. The episode highlights how minor personal actions by high-profile figures can still generate significant online discussion.
