US President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington could carry out significant strikes against Iran on Tuesday. However, Trump stated that the timeline may change due to future negotiations, as per FOX News.

In a phone conversation with Fox News reporter Bret Baier,Trump indicated the current military operation against Iran would occur by the anticipated date. When asked how likely he felt there would be an agreement reached by the deadline, Trump said he didn't want to put a number on it but that “8 pm is happening.”

Baier noted that Trump warned of significant military action if no agreement is reached within the stipulated time. “He said, it is, if we get to that point, there is going to be an attack like they have not seen. Now he's sticking to that at this point.”

At the same time, the US president indicated that diplomacy remains possible if developments on the ground change.

“He said if negotiations move forward today and there is something concrete, that could change. But at this hour, he didn't want to put odds on it. But he said it is moving forward with the plans that we have. That's a huge deal,” Baier said, quoting Trump.

Earlier on Tuesday, reports said Trump issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that “a whole civilisation will die tonight” if an agreement to reopen the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz is not reached.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will.”

He added, “However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalised minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

Trump has set an 8 pm ET deadline for Iran to agree to a ceasefire deal that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route.
