Iran War 2026: Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East region, US President Donald Trump on Saturday reminded Iran of the April 6 deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on Truth Social, the US president asserted that Tehran will witness hell if it does not open the critical chokepoint. Trump has been repeatedly threatening to attack the critical infrastructures of Iran; however, he has also sought arrangements to end the military conflict.
In his post, the US president reminded that the deadline for Iran will end in 48 hours, adding that the country will face severe consequences in case there is inaction. "Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out–48 hours before all hell will reign (sic) down on them," Trump said in his post. "Glory be to GOD!" the US president added.
Earlier on March 26, the US president stated that Tehran sought a seven-day pause on the US strikes; however, he decided to further extend it to 10 days till April 6. "They said to me very nicely, through my people, 'Could we have more time?' Because we're talking about tomorrow night, which is pretty quick, and if they don't do what they have to do, I will knock out their power plants," Trump told Fox News.
While Trump has claimed that the new decision makers of Iran are willing for a ceasefire agreement, his office has not produced sufficient evidence of any such conversation yet. Apart from this, Iran has also warned that it will intensify its attacks on Israel and the US bases in the Middle East if its energy sites are targeted.

The experts have also pointed out that attacks on civilian energy are defined as war crimes. The war has already entered its fifth week with no signs of immediate peace in the region.
