US President Donald Trump on Tuesday revealed that his mother was fond of the British royal family and had a "crush" on King Charles. He further stated that his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, was born in Scotland and closely followed the royal events of television. The remarks from the US president came during an official ceremony on the White House South Lawn. Trump welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla on Tuesday, who are on a four-day US visit.

In his address, the US president recalled that his mother also closely followed the queen, adding that she was fond of the queen's beauty. "Any time the Queen was involved in the ceremony or anything, my mother would be glued to the television," the US president said. "And should say, 'Look, Donald, look how beautiful that is,'" he added.

Trump further stated that his mother had a crush on King Charles. "But I also remember her saying very clearly, 'Charles, look, young Charles. He's so cute,'" he said. "My mother had a crush on Charles. Can you believe it? I wonder what she’s thinking right now," the US president added.

King Charles, known for his witty speeches, reminded Trump that the British liberated the Americans from the French influence. "You recently commented, Mr President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that if it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French," King Charles said.

Apart from this, the US president also claimed that King Charles also thinks that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons. "We have militarily defeated that particular opponent, and we're never going to let that opponent ever- Charles agrees with me even more than I do-we're never going to let that opponent have a nuclear weapon," Trump said.
