PM Modi Trump Talks: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held a telephonic conversation amid expectations of round two talks between America and Iran to end the ongoing hostility in the Middle East, causing global fuel havoc on Tuesday. Informing about the phone call, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said the India-US relations are on a strong footing.
I just want you to know we all love you, Trump has told PM Modi, Gor said, adding that the call lasted for nearly 40 minutes.
"PM Modi and US President Trump discussed the issue of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Some big-ticket deals, including on energy, are expected between India and the US in the next few days and weeks," the US Ambassador to India said.

Stressed The Importance Of Keeping Strait of Hormuz Open And Secure: PM Modi
"Received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the substantial progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation in various sectors. We are committed to further strengthening our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in all areas. We also discussed the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure," PM Modi wrote on X.
This was the second phone call from the US President. Earlier on March 24, Trump spoke to PM Modi, in which the prime minister reiterated India's support for immediate de-escalation and restoration of peace amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. During the call, PM Modi emphasised that keeping the strategic Strait of Hormuz open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world. Both leaders also agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability.
US, Iran May Resume Talks This Week
The development comes amid a big buzz that negotiators from the US and Iran could return to Islamabad this week to resume talks to end the war. News agency, Reuters, citing sources, reported that the collapse of weekend negotiations prompted Washington to impose a blockade on Iranian ports, prompting Iran to issue a fresh threat to attack US allies in the region.
While the US blockade drew angry rhetoric from Tehran, signs that diplomatic engagement might continue helped calm oil markets, pushing benchmark prices below USD 100 on Tuesday. The highest-level talks between the two adversaries since the 1979 Islamic Revolution ended in the Pakistani capital without a breakthrough at the weekend, raising doubts over the survival of a two-week ceasefire that still has a week to run.
However, a source involved in the talks said on Tuesday both countries could return as early as the end of this week, and that a proposal had been shared with Washington and Tehran to resend their delegations.
