Amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, former United Arab Emirates ambassador to India, Hussain Hassan Mirza, has made a notable statement, suggesting that a phone call from Narendra Modi could potentially help resolve the conflict.
Speaking in an interview with a media channel, Mirza said he does not see any reason for the UAE to get directly involved in the ongoing conflict. He emphasised that the UAE would not allow either Iran or Israel to use its territory for military attacks. Despite maintaining relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords and sharing geographical proximity with Iran, the UAE intends to remain neutral.
Mirza also praised Prime Minister Modi’s global influence and credibility. According to reports, he stated that Modi commands significant respect not only among Gulf leaders but also among the region’s business community and the general public. “One phone call from PM Modi could resolve the Israel-Iran issue and bring it to an end,” Mirza remarked.

His comments come as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets. The situation has reportedly triggered retaliatory attacks across the region, increasing fears of a wider escalation.
Meanwhile, the UAE has reiterated its neutral stance, clearly stating that it will not allow its territory to be used for any form of military confrontation.
The conflict has continued to escalate even after the reported transfer of leadership in Iran to Mojtaba Khamenei. On Monday, Israeli forces carried out strikes in central Iran and also targeted infrastructure linked to Hezbollah in Beirut. Casualties continue to rise, with Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations stating that the death toll has reached 1,332, while thousands of people have been injured.
