Authority Issues Helpline Numbers
Apart from this, the Indian Embassy in Paris and the Consulate General of India in Marseille have also shared dedicated helpline numbers to help citizens facing emergency situations. Earlier, France's Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu stated that additional security personnel will be deployed in multiple parts ahead of the scheduled October 24 demonstrations.
Earlier on Monday, French authorities announced several restrictions and deployed additional security forces in the prominent cities following two days of large-scale demonstrations. At least 2,400 people were arrested, and others were removed from the demonstration sites.
Why Protests Are Being Held?
The protests are being held due to the alleged lack of facilities in the government schools and a massive cut in the public funding. The protesters are demanding extra facilities and teachers for government schools, especially in the deprived zones.
