An Emirates flight from Dubai to London's Heathrow Airport was forced to divert to Frankfurt Airport on Thursday after a passenger experienced a medical emergency onboard. Flight EK31 squawked transponder code 7700 to declare a general emergency before descending near Frankfurt to land.

What Happened On Emirates Flight?

According to Emirates, the cabin crew provided assistance to the passenger during the flight, while medical support was also arranged in Frankfurt before the flight's arrival. The aircraft landed safely at Frankfurt Airport, where the passenger disembarked to receive further medical attention.

Emirates stated that the flight is expected to continue its journey from Frankfurt to London at approximately 6:00 PM local time (Frankfurt).

"The flight path of Emirates Flight number "EK 31" heading from Dubai to London Heathrow Airport was diverted to Frankfurt after one of the passengers experienced a medical emergency on board the aircraft. The flight crew provided the necessary assistance to the passenger during the journey, and coordination was made with the relevant authorities to provide medical support upon arrival. The aircraft landed safely in Frankfurt, where the passenger was transferred to receive further medical care. The flight is expected to resume its path to London Heathrow Airport around 6:00 PM local time in Frankfurt," an Emirates Airlines spokesperson said.

Flydubai Cockpit Incident

The incident occurred just one day after a far more serious emergency involving another Dubai-origin flight. On Wednesday, flydubai Flight FZ1073, en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following a violent cockpit altercation that left Indian captain Smit Machchhar seriously injured.

The co-pilot, identified as an Omani national, allegedly attacked Machchhar and attempted to crash the Boeing 737, causing the aircraft to plunge more than 14,000 feet in approximately 30 seconds before the crew regained control.
