Authorities On Alert

The sudden rise in water levels in these states could lead to a flood-like situation in some districts. In their advisories, the authorities have advised people to stay alert and avoid vising the river sides. Apart from this, the district administrations could also begin the preparation for evacuation if the water level keeps increasing throughout the day.

These Districts On High Alert

The flash flood alert has been issued for four districts of Assam- Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang and Dhubri. Apart from this, West Bengal districts, including Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar have also been kept on high alert, reported News18.

While providing details, Alipurduar SP Amit Kumar Shaw stated that people have been moved into shelters, adding that the intensity has reduced in the past few hours. "We have already moved approximately 4,000 to 5,000 people into shelters, utilizing school buildings as relief centers. Additionally, more than 6,000 people have been relocated to safe areas," Shaw was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

"Based on the current flow of water—and the latest information we have received—the intensity has decreased slightly, but we remain on high alert...the police, the DM’s office, and the BDO’s office have made arrangements for dry food and drinking water," he added.
