Two young boys were left seriously injured after a stabbing at Kingsbury High School in Brent, north-west London, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a major police response and a counter-terrorism investigation. Police were called to the school at around 12:40 pm local time following reports that a 13-year-old boy had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 12-year-old boy had also suffered stab wounds. Both victims were described as being in “serious” condition and were receiving urgent medical treatment.

According to neighbours and parents, the suspected attacker, believed to be 13 years old, may have climbed over a wall to gain access to the school grounds before launching the assault. Reports indicate that the suspect was not a student at Kingsbury High School, raising questions about how he managed to enter the campus carrying a concealed weapon.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as the incident unfolded. Some pupils reportedly dropped their bags and coats and ran for safety, while others were trapped inside classrooms.

One parent, Simon Theodorou, claimed that the attacker “pepper-sprayed a classroom,” making it difficult for students and staff to escape or raise the alarm. It is believed that one of the victims may have been stabbed while attempting to pull the fire alarm to warn others. Witnesses said children were screaming and banging on windows, calling out for help. A nearby resident reported hearing distressed cries of “Mummy, Mummy” coming from the school.

Counter-Terror Police Lead Investigation

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams confirmed that a 13-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after leaving the scene. Officers also recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the attack. The boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Williams stressed that while the investigation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing London due to surrounding circumstances, the incident has not been formally declared a terrorist attack. Authorities said they are keeping an open mind about the motive and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the stabbing.

Due to his age, the suspect’s identity has not been disclosed. Many pupils were kept inside the school for several hours as police carried out inquiries, according to reports.
