A senior commander of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba has reportedly been killed by 'unidentified gunmen' with netizens calling it a “Dhurandhar-style” targeted attack, adding to a growing pattern of mysterious killings of terror operatives in Pakistan.
The incident took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Sheikh Yousuf Afridi, believed to be an important figure in the group’s regional network, was shot dead.
According to a NDTV report, Afridi played a key role in the US-designated terror outfit’s operations in the region, and authorities are treating the case as a suspected targeted assassination.
His killing is the latest in a series of similar incidents in which high-profile militants have been eliminated under unclear circumstances, often involving unidentified attackers.
