Iran-Israel War: Amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, five US Air Force refuelling planes were struck and damaged on the ground at the Prince Sultan Air Base, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing two US officials. So far, no casualties have been reported.

The incident comes a day after a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker refuelling aircraft crashed while supporting operations in western Iraq on Thursday. All six crew members on board the aircraft were reported dead.

While the US military announced that the crash was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire, an Iran-backed Iraqi armed group has claimed responsibility for the downing of the jet.

Two planes were involved in the incident, and United States Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, said the crash in western Iraq followed an unspecified incident involving two aircraft in “friendly airspace”. The other plane landed safely in Israel.

"The circumstances of the incident are under investigation. However, the loss of the aircraft was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire," said US Central Command.

Meanwhile, the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has entered its 15th day on March 14, with no clear sign of de-escalation as missile strikes, drone attacks, and air raids continue across the Middle East.

The joint forces of the United States and Israel, on February 28, launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, triggering a series of retaliatory attacks by Iran against US military bases in the Middle East and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz that have driven global energy markets higher.

According to Iranian state media, heavy explosions were heard in central Tehran on Friday. The blasts occurred near a major pro-government demonstration in the capital’s central square, where large crowds had gathered to mark Quds Day, the annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadan in support of the Palestinian cause.
