Israel-US-Iran War Updates: As the Middle East conflict continues to threaten the world's energy supplies, US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that Washington may "massively blow up" the South Pars gas field if Tehran launches more attacks on Qatar's LNG facilities. Trump stated on Truth Social that while he did not want to approve such destruction, he would if Qatar's LNG plants were targeted once more.
"I do not want to authorise this level of violence and destruction because of the long-term implications that it will have on Iran's future, but I will not hesitate to do so if Qatar's LNG is attacked again," Trump wrote.
The alert coincided with Qatar's announcement that Iranian missile strikes had seriously damaged further LNG facilities in the Gulf country.
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel conducted synchronized, surprise airstrikes against Iranian military installations, nuclear sites, and leadership, sparking the start of the 2026 Iran War. The conflict, also known as the 2026 Iran Conflict or Operation Epic Fury, saw swift Iranian retribution against Israeli and American targets throughout the Middle East.
